Raising awareness about high blood pressure in Noah. About 40 people affected.

The fight against non-transmissible diseases in Togo is experiencing several activities with the involvement of Civil Society Organizations working in the health field in Togo. It is in this context that CRIPS-Togo organized this awareness-raising activity Sir HTA In Noah in the prefecture of Avé. 

40 people were affected on 28 September by this activity which took place in the vicinity of the medical and social centre of CRIPS-TOGO, Noépé's branch. Since January 2018, CRIPS-TOGO, in order to contribute to the well-being of the populations of Avé, in the package of services offered also organizes awareness sets in the canton of Noah on arterial hypertension and its complications.

During these awareness sessions CRIPS-Togo does the taking of blood pressure followed by the medical and psychological management of the proven cases. Noncommunicable NCD diseases with high blood pressure are a real danger to populations.

High blood pressure is usually asymptomatic, i.e. it does not cause any symptoms. However, very high blood pressure (moderate or advanced stage) and sustained blood pressure can cause the following symptoms:

  • Headaches accompanied by fatigue (these headaches are often located in the neck and occur very early in the morning).
  • Dizziness or ringing in the ears.
  • Palpitations.
  • Nosebleeds.
  • Confusion or drowsiness.
  • Numbness or tingling in the feet and hands.
